There was a major mover in the sponsor’s ante-post market for the BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby in the past hours with Ballymac Setanta now backed into joint favouritism at 8-1.
Only yesterday we suggested that Bouncing Monarch was almost certain to go off favourite but he has been joined by Ballymac Setanta after some significant support.
Indeed, Ballymac Setanta wasn’t even the shortest priced ‘Ballymac’ runner up to yesterday with Ballymac Deniro the 12-1 second choice ahead of his kennel companion at 14s. But after this latest move, Ballymac Setanta was cut to 10-1 before further support came for the brilliant tracker, who hasn’t been seen since his elimination from the English Derby.
The Kirby Memorial and Laurels finalist is now a ‘significant loser’ for BOYLE Sports according to their greyhound racing maestro, Damien Lonergan.
MOVES IN SPECIALS MARKETS
Lonergan also reported good money for Ballydoyle Tina in the ‘Top Bitch’ market, suggesting “the only one they want to know in the top bitch market is Ballydoyle Tina. We’ve seen a good few bets come in on her”.
Damien also had his finger on the pulse earlier in the week, noting while watching the action at Shelbourne Park on Tuesday that the track was running well. As a result, the odds of the track record being broken before the end of the Derby have been cut to 7-2 from 4-1.
