It’s just days since we reported that Montana Secret and Puppy Derby champion Im Here had both been sold across the Irish Sea to Sunderland-based handler Carl Jackson.
Clearly intent on assembling a formidable team to challenge for major honours in the coming year, Jackson has wasted little time in adding further quality to his ranks, with the recent purchase of Vernon Mist.
Jackson confirmed the latest addition to his kennel on social media, with the top-class sprinter set to make the move across the Irish Sea. The son of Ballymac Cashout won in spectacular fashion on Derby final night, producing a stunning 18.39 to land the open sprint final and see off some of Ireland’s finest two-bend performers.
A week later, Vernon Mist made it four successive victories with another impressive display over the sprint trip at Shelbourne, stopping the clock in 18.41. Bred from the outstanding brood Ballymac Sanjose, he is a half-brother to Oaks and Laurels champion Crafty Shivoo and looks ideally suited to the British racing scene.
A superb trapper with exceptional early pace into the opening bend, Vernon Mist has all the attributes to make an immediate impact in the UK. He should prove a prolific winner and, with his talent and natural speed, is also expected to make his mark in Category One company.
