LENNIES DESIRE THE ONE TO BEAT IN TWO WHEEL TRAINING OPEN 750

Barry Drake

LENNIES DESIRE, trained by Paul Hennessy for owner Lee Craze, is selected to record back-to-back winning performances in tonight's €5,000 to the winner Two Wheel Training Open 750-final.

The classy performer ran well in the opening round, when second behind Jaypees Cooper; however, there were no mistakes in the semi-finals, displaying plenty of early speed to make all the running, in 41.51. The talented runner has also clocked 28.01 around the 525-yard trip, and he's selected to be in front early, which will make him very hard to beat. He's drawn between two ordinary starters, and the door is open for another front-running winning performance. In truth, he should prove a class apart.

Local trainer Ryan McCarthy is represented with Valhalla Vision. In the ownership of Darren and Sean O'Hea, she has plenty of big runs in the book; however, she needs to bounce back to something near his best to land the spoils last night. The strong finisher looked all over a winner in running last week, but she failed to get the job done. Better is expected tonight, and she's not without a chance in the feature final.

Mydras Opinion, trained by Owen McKenna for owner Moira Costigan, impressed when winning the Shelbourne 600, but he's yet to bring that sort of form to Cork. He's not the strongest of runners over this trip, so he will need an explosive start, but don't rule him out totally.

DENIS LINEHAN SOLICITORS UNRACED STAKE

The semi-finals of the  €10,000 to the winner Denis Linehan Solicitors Unraced Stake are other standout races on the card.

Callaway Ryder looks like the best bet in the second heat. Trained by Owen McKenna for owners the Field Sports Syndicate, the selection caught the eye in the opening round, running well from trap number five. The switch back into the inside of the track will suit, and he has enough early speed to make all the running. The August puppy has 28.44 on the card, and on that running, he will take plenty of stopping.

In the following heat, Droopys Monk, trained by Barry Clancy for owners Graham Ashe and Tommy Kelly, should go very close. The November puppy set the standard in the opening round, winning in 28.42. Both Revolut Bill, for Peter Divilly, and Razldazl Loreal, for Dolores Ruth, are others with big futures, and they should deliver big performances once more.

In the opening heat, a chance is worth taking with the Graham Holland-trained Bockos Jovi. In the ownership of Beverley Lochead, the October puppy showed enough on debut to suggest he is more than capable of going close in this. Drawn well, next to the rails, he can reserve form with Thurlesbeg Duke. There was a length and a half between them, in 28.76, last week. Of the others, the Adam Dunford-trained Fantasy Adam caught the eye when winning in 28.72 on debut. The September puppy gave the impression that he would improve plenty from that run, and he looks capable of going much quicker. Another big performance is very much expected.

Bockos Gold, for trainer Graham Holland, can send punters home happy. He is one of the most exciting young greyhounds in the country, and from the rails pitch, he will be hard to beat. Montana Secret is a real danger for trainer John Linehan and owners Barry and Martin O'Reilly. He posted 17.24 in a recent spring trial around Curraheen Park, and he should be in the mix throughout.
