The Beatty Family Continue Sponsorship of Corn Cuchulainn at Shelbourne Park in Honour of Donal Beatty

We are delighted to welcome back the Beatty Family as sponsors of the prestigious Corn Cuchulainn in memory of their late father, Donal Beatty. Now firmly established as one of Ireland’s premier six-bend greyhound races, the Corn Cuchulainn continues to grow in stature and significance. With origins in Harold’s Cross dating back to the early 1960s, the competition achieved classic status in 2005 and remains one of the most revered fixtures in the Irish greyhound calendar.
The Beatty Family’s deep-rooted connection to greyhound racing spans generations, and their continued support brings both stability and personal meaning to the competition.
Over the decades, the Corn Cuchulainn has provided a stage for many of Ireland’s most outstanding stayers, including Ritas Choice, Purple Sun, and Corporate Attack.
It has also been a proving ground for celebrated trainers such as Gay McKenna, Seamus Graham, and Paul Hennessy, each leaving a lasting mark on the competition.
This year’s event will again feature a first prize of €10,500, reinforcing the race’s status as a premier long-distance contest. Fans can also enjoy three hours of live broadcast from Shelbourne Park on SIS Racing TV, including comprehensive coverage of the final. The undercard will also feature strong support, with additional sponsored races (full details to be announced), alongside an Open 550 final with a €5,000 top prize, ensuring a superb night of top-class racing.
Derek Frehill, Director of Racing for GRI commented, "We are very pleased to have the Beatty Family continuing their support of the Corn Cuchulainn for a second year.Their commitment to the race, and to honouring Donal’s memory in this way, is greatly appreciated by everyone involved in greyhound racing. The Corn Cuchulainn is an important part of our racing calendar, and this continued sponsorship helps ensure it remains a high-quality and competitive event. We look forward to working with the Beatty Family again this year and to another strong renewal of the competition.” With the continued backing of The Beatty Family, this year’s edition promises to be another memorable chapter in its rich history.
