‘TIME’ FOR VALUABLE 575 DECIDER AT LIFFORD

Peter Farrell

Kindly sponsored by Willie Rigney of TIME Greyhound Nutrition in association with Northwest Greyhound Supplies, the final of the TIME Nutrition A2/A3 575 is the feature on the card at Lifford this evening and the winner will pocket a handsome €1,000 for just two outings.

As expected given the prizemoney, the event attracted a fine entry and the standard was set on a slow track last weekend by the Charles Coyle-owned Louder. The daughter of Magical Bale has rediscovered her best form in recent weeks and stepped up brilliantly from a 28.88 victory to win over the extended trip in 31.91 in the semis. Making every yard on that occasion, connections will be glad to see her don the red jacket once again in the decider and she will look to dictate from the outset in her attempts for three in a row. Indeed, the Derry owner is double-handed in the final as he is also represented by Roanna Bonnie in trap two. The outsider of the pack, the daughter of Good News doesn’t win too often but could potentially do her kennel companion a favour in the early exchanges if holding up the more fancied runner’s on her outer. The likely favourite to land the spoils is Run On Then, who lines out in trap three for Tyrone owner Colm McRory. The daughter of Broadstrand Bono won at her leisure last time out after a blistering start and she will be hoping for more of the same this time around. However, any slip-ups at traprise and she will have her work cut out to reel in some stout stayers, none more so than Read The Room. Trained by Declan Crossan for Georgina Gibbons, this lady hails from a kennel in red-hot form of late and she certainly had the ability to land this pot. A member of a very talented litter by Julies Paradise, she will need to negotiate a tricky draw in five, however, a fast start and she will certainly be banging on the door come the business end. Blackstone Aldo is another that is sure to attract plenty of support. Narrowly beaten by Louder last time out, the massive son of Dorotas Wildcat is normally slowly into stride, however, like last week could find himself racing more prominently in the decider due to the lack of early speed in the contest. Should this be the case, Michael Taggart’s runner has big claims but must show something early on to overcome a poor draw in four. The remaining runner is Luz Days in six. Running for James Anderson of Ballymoney, the son of Droopys Cain was narrowly pipped in the semis after showing good pace to recover from a poor start. ‘Luz’ must sharpen up at the traprise however, as it’s doubtful that he’ll be coming from off-the-pace this time around given the standard of opposition in the line-up.
