SUPERB FRIDAY NIGHT RACING AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

Friday’s card at Shelbourne Park featured some outstanding action including a massive run from newcomer Johnjimthesecond, while Swift Legend produced a fine run to land the feature, the final of the Lucan Golf Club A2 575 for Scott Phelan and the Cash Only Syndicate.

Swift Legend has really appreciated the long run to the turn over the 575yd trip and he again got loose at the head of affairs. My Mate Paul, Shelone Cashout and Gamble Frank all did what they could to bridge the gap, but Swift Legend powered to the line to score by three lengths in 31.42. My Mate Paul was second.

JOHNJIM LOOKS SPECIAL

Johnjimthesecond was stunning in the semi-finals of the IGOBF National Puppy Starts Soon Open Unraced 525.

The Graham Holland trained son of Dromana Bucko and Bushpark Katie went up strongly and asserted on the corner.

Driving across Radical Legacy on his inner, Johnjimthesecondmoved on and proceeded to draw further and further clear for a facile eight length success over Droopys Jones in 28.10. Have no doubt, the winner is potentially very good and his owners, the Cassagh Boys Syndicate, can start getting excited.

ULTEN WINS WELL

The opening heat saw Ultens Well emerge a good winner for Michael Butler, while also hinting that much better is to come from the well-bred son of Droopys Flytline and Maries Wedding.

Oakwood Trent went up fast and challenged throughout but Ultens Well pulled out extra in the closing yards to emerge a half length scorer in 28.76.
