STREET AIMS TO SHINE IN GLENGAR BALE SEMIS AT ENNISCORTHY

Blue Street set the standard in the opening round of the Glengar Bale @ Stud Open Unraced at Enniscorthy and John Kearney’s exciting youngster will be looking to confirm that form in tonight’s opening semi-final.

The son of Ballymac Bolger and Jades Beauty produced a hugely promising debut, showing good early pace before taking command at halfway and powering clear to win by five and a half lengths in 28.85. He again has the red jacket and looks the one they all have to beat.

Unanimous Tobi is the obvious danger. Pat Buckley’s youngster also won in the opening round, recovering quickly from an early bump before showing excellent pace into the corner. He tired a little late on but still had two and a half lengths in hand over Snazzy Black and could be sharper for the experience.

Snazzy Black gets another chance to turn the tables on Tobi, while Elsie Mischief deserves respect after finishing strongly to take second behind Blue Street. Bells Princess, meanwhile, arrives with winning form after pouncing when the principals in her heat tangled before staying on strongly.

A WIDE OPEN SECON SEMI

The second semi-final is a wide-open affair.

Ballinabola Star is perhaps the most likely pace-setter, although Terrific Attack also went up fast last week.Getgoin Steve chased home Bells Princess and can go faster if his qualifying form is anything to go by.

Corrageenrunaway also displayed enough in defeat last week to suggest he can get involved also. To further complicate the issue, Whisper Kiki also looks open to much improvement and can’t be dismissed.

With three to qualify from each semi-final for next week’s €1,500 decider, another couple of promising youngsters could emerge tonight as the competition moves towards its conclusion. The action at Enniscorthy gets underway at 8pm.
