TREBLE FOR TAYLOR AT THURLES

TREBLE FOR TAYLOR AT THURLES

Peter Farrell

It’s been a quiet few weeks at Thurles Greyhound Stadium since the final of the Droopys Stud Champion Bitch Stake, however, there was a notable treble for the kennel of Ann Taylor on Saturday night.

The first of the kennel companions to cross the line in front was Cashel Misty in an A5 525 contest in race six. A 4/1 chance at the off, ‘Misty’, who was searching for a third career victory, disputed the early running with Bull Run Bind, however, she quickly took charge midway down the back straight. From here, the daughter of Dromana Bucko and Ballacolla drew clear of Up At Sunrise in second to win by six lengths, in a time of 29.47 .20s.

Litter brother, Cashel Rory, secured the double in race nine as he too finished strongly to secure a fifth career victory. Known for his powerfully displays from halfway, ‘Rory’ sat handy in behind Cabra Nova early doors and the even money favourite shot to the front at the midway point. Always holding his rivals thereafter, the strapping brindle came home one length clear of Carneys Firmino to stop the clock in an identical time to his sister, 29.47 .20s.

The penultimate race on the night sealed the hat-trick for Ann Taylor as she sent out Clonmore Boy, owned by Seamus McGrath, to victory. A February whelp who boasts an incredible win record that now stands at eight wins, the son of Ballymac Cashout and Knockmill Girl was quickest into stride from trap two and from there, he made every yard of the running to cross the line and record a comfortable victory over Da Warrior in second. The time was a slick 29.07 .20s.
