IMPRESSIVE JET QUICKEST AT LIMEICK

It was an unusually quiet card at Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday night with no sweepstake action on offer, however, there were some fine performances across the card, with the highlight being a kennel double for Corona Ryan.

Of Ryan’s winners, it was Zenith Jet that set the standard on the night as Birol Nadir’s runner sealed a third successive victory to continue his upward trajectory. Just a November whelp, ‘Jet’ arrived fresh from a smart 550-yard victory around Shelbourne Park and it wasn’t surprising to see him installed as the 2/1 favourite. Drawn in one, Zenith Jet was only moderately into stride but used his inside pitch to his advantage, slipping around in second behind Your The King. The latter continued to dictate down the back, however, there was an air of inevitability around the bottom two bends as ‘Jet’ loomed large. Now in full throttle, the son of Ballymac Vic - Ballymac Pebbles quickly stormed past Your The King entering the home straight and pulled clear thereafter to win by an extending one and a half lengths. The time was a rapid 28.54.

Prior to that, Maybe (Dromana Bucko - Swanley Chick) got the ball rolling for Corona Ryan and John Edwards. This lady had posted some strong qualifying efforts but was still searching for that first career victory when lining out in race four. Drawn in one, she was installed as the 6/4 favourite and took her rivals into the back, holding a two-length advantage over Bills Express, owned by John Ryan, in second. The latter quickly breezed alongside, however, there was nothing to separate the pair at the winning line as they shared the spoils in a dead-heat finish. The time was 29.36.
