HENNESSY TARGETING MORE GLORY WITH RON

Ian Fortune

There is simply no stopping Paul Hennessy at present. After the victories of Lennies Eddie in the English Derby and Lennies Ash in the Oaks, he now has his sights set on the Wexford GOBA Open Unraced at Enniscorthy and Priceless Ron went one step closer to landing the valuable prize on Monday night as he set the standard in the semi-finals with a 29.14 return.

His task was made somewhat easier by the absence of the likes favourite Luminous Fairy but he took the opportunity to step up on his previous efforts to come home alone. Formerly known as Supa Jet, the son of Priceless Jet and Luna Rocket broke smartly from the inside box and quickly asserted into the bend.

Maintaining a strong gallop throughout, the August ’24 whelp came home six and a half lengths clear of Blue Winter. Tip Top Celt also progressed to next week’s final, finishing a further three lengths adrift.

ANARCHY MAKES IT THREE FROM THREE

Priceless Ron will face some tough opposition in the final, however, with Son Of Anarchy maintaining his unbeaten career record in the opening semi-final as he made all for Joe Anglim and owners Tom Lambert and John White.

Showing fine early speed to dispute the early lead, the son of Tullig Raven and Liberty Eve ran a superb corner to move on. It was all quite straightforward thereafter with Son Of Anarchy racing on to win by four lengths from the 5-4 favourite Miss Lackalea in 29.28. Mona Lee Monbeg was another length and a half away in third.
