FASCINATING FARE AT SHELBOURNE AS YOUNGSTERS SET TO DELIGHT

Ian Fortune

Tonight’s card at Shelbourne offers plenty by way of entertainment.

As always, there is plenty of sweepstake action to look forward to including a valuable final but real enthusiasts will be most interested in the opening two races on the card, the semi-finals of the IGOBF National Puppy Stake Starts soon Open Unraced.

SUPRQUIK LOOKS A REAL PROSPECT

To suggest there are a few promising types on show would be quite the understatement.

The opening heat features some fascinating youngsters. Droopys Suprquik is particularly interesting after taking of in qualifying.

The Bary Clancy trained son of Dorotas Wildcat clocked both 27.98 and 28.01 in recent 525yd trials and is clearly potentially very special. He must get the vote, although it may not be as straightforward as many will think.

Liam Dowling sends out Fourbellsup. A well-bred son of Ballymac Finn, he flew around Shelbourne in a recent sprint trial, clocking 18.33. His remaining trials are also very impressive, suggesting that he too has a big future.

Throw in the well-bred Graham Holland runner Faypoint Mickey and Michael Butler’s Ultens Well and it is quite a contest. Droopys Suprquik is the selection ahead of Fourbellsup and don’t be surprised if we are referencing this contest for many months to come.

LEGACY JUST GETS NOD IN SECOND HEAT

The second heat is also packed with quality, although it seems a far more competitive affair.

Radical Legacy posted 28.58 in his latest trial and just gets the nod ahead of Faypoint Buzz and Ballymac Conrad but any of the six could produce a massive run to begin their career on a high.

MY MATE TO OBLIGE

The final of the This Runs Deep A2 575 is the fifth race on the card and semi-final form would suggest that My Mate Paul and Shelone Cashout can battle out the finish.

The former set the standard last week, leading early to win in 31.55 and a repeat of that form would allow him go close again.

Shelone Cashout will finish at speed and seems certain to get involved at the business end but he may need to turn a little closer than in his semi-final.

TOBY AND KITTEN APPEAL IN IRGT STAKE

Racing ends with the semi-finals of the www.irgt.ie A2 525 and both Hotshot Toby and Town Kitten are selected in their respective heats.

The latter went fastest in the opening round and can again turn close before powering home for another fine success.

Hotshot Toby was picked up by Town Kitten last week but seems set to turn in front again in the opening heat. If doing so, he can hold off the likes of Ballinahow Hope and Group Silverstar.
