After impressing a week earlier in the opening round, Luminous Fairy set the standard in the second round of the Wexford GOBA Open Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night.
An even money favourite in the opening second round heat, the daughter of Grangeview Ten and Ballymac Tam flashed out of trap four and quickly put daylight between herself and her pursuers.
Supa Jet emerged as the main danger to Luminous Fairy but Denis Lennon’s youngster was simply too good as she powered clear to win by four and a half lengths in 28.98 on a track rated .20 slow. Supa Jet was second with Blue Winter three and a half lengths further back in third.
LACKALEA IMPRESSES
Next fastest was Miss Lackalea as she emerged an easy winner of the final heat for Brendan Murphy and owner Adrian Street in 29.14 (.20 slow).
The daughter of Dromana Bucko and Rockmount Winnie may have taken a couple of bumps in the early yards but she burst her way to the front into the bend.
It was all very straightforward thereafter. Easing right away, Miss Lackalea emerged a comfortable seven and a half length scorer over Ballinabola Wild. Paradise Clover was another length and a half adrift.
MONA LEE LOOKS STRONG
Cormac Doyle and Mark Hatton were on the mark in Heat 2 with Mona Lee Monbeg.
Only fourth into the back straight after a slow start from five, the son of Glengar Bale and Monalee Ruth charged into the third turn to take over from the early pace-setters before going on to win by four lengths from Ballinabola Faye in 29.25 (.20 slow). Dashing Millie also progressed in third, some two and a half lengths adrift.
ANARCHY STAYS UNBEATEN
Son Of Anarchy maintained his unbeaten record in the competition in Heat 3, getting loose early to see off his rivals with a bit of comfort.
Trained by Joe Anglim for Tom Lambert and John White, the son of Tullig Raven and Liberty Eve was in front form the opening stride. He proceeded to ease clear for a four-length success over Tip Top Celt in 29.41 (.20 slow). O Lad was best of the remainder in third.
