COLM O’NEILL

The Northern Irish and more particularly the Tyrone greyhound fraternity lost one of its long standing and most respected members with the passing of Colm "Budgie" O'Neill of Ardboe this week.

Colm raced his dogs at Lifford, Derry, Dundalk and Drumbo with considerable success over his many years in the game and always had them in peak fitness for the tracks.

A very skilful joiner and later site foreman, Colm was a jovial character who was a great storyteller and enjoyed a bit of light hearted controversy with his assistant trainer Dr. Leo Cassidy.

Prior to getting involved in the  doggie game, Colm has a very successful career with his native Ardboe O'Donavan Rossa club and also played for Tyrone in the late 1960s and into the  1970's.

We would like to take this opportunity to pass on our sincerest sympathies to his family, his wife Bridget, his daughter Cathy,sons Patrick, Donal, Cathal and Kevin, his sisters, his beloved grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

Peacefully at Macmillan House, Antrim Area Hospital surrounded by his loving family, Colm R.I.P. Dearly beloved husband of Bridget and much-loved father of Patrick, Donal, Cathal, Cathy (Devlin) Ryan and Kevin. Cherished brother of Sadie (Laverty), Bridie (Campbell), Bernie (Quinn) and the late Patrick, Maisie, Sean, Kevin, Arthur, Raphael and baby Oliver Brendan. Son of the late Arthur and Lizzie Rose R.I.P.
Funeral from his home 14a Kilmascally Road, BT71 5BH to The Church of The Blessed Sacrament Mullinahoe for 11am Requiem Mass on Friday 18th September. Interment afterwards in the adjacent cemetery. Funeral Mass can be viewed on Church Webcam (link below).
Colm’s Wake will commence from 7pm to 10pm on Wednesday 16th September and on Thursday 17th September from 10am to 10pm. Could all those attending the Wake please park at the grounds of Ardboe O’Donavan Rossa GAC which is a short walk from the family home.
