CLONMEL TO HOST SPECIAL BENEFIT MEETING ON 14TH AUGUST

There is sure to be plenty of buzz around Clonmel Greyhound Stadium this Friday night as the track hosts a special benefit meeting in aid of the Sasha and Layla Medical Fund.

Sasha and Layla were healthy, active teenagers who loved GAA, swimming, running and school until their lives unexpectedly changed. In December 2024, Sasha collapsed at school and was found to have a dangerously high and erratic heart rate. Despite repeated hospital stays and numerous medications, her condition remains uncontrolled.

In April 2025, Layla collapsed after PE and suffered over 200 seizures. She spent time in the High Dependency Unit, temporarily lost her vision and returned home in a wheelchair, having to learn to walk again. She was also found to have the same serious heart-rate problems as Sasha, and their condition remains undiagnosed. With the family continuing to search for answers, Friday night’s benefit meeting will help raise vital funds to access private specialists and explore the possibility of treatment abroad.

There will be a variety of activities on offer throughout the evening, including face painting for the children, while a BBQ and music will follow the racing. In addition, there will be a raffle with some fantastic prizes up for grabs, with all funds raised going towards supporting Sasha and Layla and their family.

A big crowd is expected at Clonmel on Friday night and, with an excellent evening of racing and entertainment in store, racegoers are encouraged to come along and support a hugely worthwhile cause.
