PENNY GOES FASTEST IN ULSTER OAKS

Ian Fortune

Timmys Penny set the standard in the semi finals of the Mabel Blair Memorial & DTSC Ulster Oaks on Saturday night at Drumbo Park.

Representing Michael and John McNeice, the daughter of Laughil Blake broke smartly to dictate the pace throughout.

Barnish Skye initially gave chase but it was Thorin, who recovered from opening bend traffic that came through for second spot. Timmys Penny was never under threat, however. The August whelp raced on to score by four and a half lengths in a fast 28.54.

MASSIVE RUN FROM BEACH

Quare Beach produced a mighty impressive run to win the second heat despite only turning fourth.

Got The Name turned in front and led to the final bend but, once swinging wide at this point, left the door open for the advancing Quare Beach. Teresa Maguireā€™s daughter of Laughil Blake and Quare Dame flew home to eventually emerge a length and a half scorer over Got The Name in 28.62.
