MOFO LEFT HER MARK ON NYC

Ian Fortune

Raha Mofo was a brilliant winner of the Sporting Press Online Edition Irish Oaks at Shelboune Park on Saturday night and those on track, including winning owner Marissa Molloy cheered her home with all their might, it was her uncle Stephen that probably got the award for the best celebration.

Alas, those celebrations didn’t come at Shelbourne Park. Indeed, Marissa has already told the story of how she was meant to be in New York for her nephew Kieran’s second professional bout at Madison Square Garden.

Instead, she decided to stay home and watch Mofo do the business. Sadly, the fight was called off at the last minute due to Kieran’s opponent contracting Covid 19. As it happens, Stephan Molloy had already made the trip to NYC and this meant he and a number of the family watching the action from Shelbourne Park in Legends Bar under the shadow of the Empire State’s Building.

As you can imagine, the scenes were pretty lively and, thankfully, someone caught the celebrations on their phone. Marissa shared the video on Twitter this morning and it really is worth a watch. I dare you not to smile when viewing it.
