GRAHAM REMAINS TOP TO MAKE IT ELEVEN

Ian Fortune

Graham Holland and his Riverside Kennel team continue to set the standard on Irish soil and it will be no surprise to anyone that he ended 2022 as the most prolific trainer in the land for an incredible eleven straight year.

It all started in 2012 when he took over from Paul Hennessy and he has remained at the top of the table ever since. To use the same line we used last year, outside of Holland and Hennessy, no other trainer has topped the list since the rankings commenced in 2001.

For the record Graham Holland sent out 215 winners in 2022, just 2 shy of his 2021 figure. It meant he ended the year 70 clear of his nearest rival, Murt Leahy. Murt had yet another memorable twelve months, claiming an Oaks title with Raha Mofo and ending on 145 winners.

Pat Buckley came next on 101 winners. Paul Hennessy, Paraic Campion and Peter Cronin all ended on 78 winners, while Martin Lanney (76), David Murray (74), David Flanagan (70) and Karol Ramsbottom and Robert Gleeson (both on 68) completed the top ten.
