TOOLMAKER ZIPPER ON TOP FORM IN THE CORK CUP

Barry Drake

TOOLMAKER ZIPPER recorded back-to-back wins in the second semi-final of the Cork Cup at Curraheen Park on Saturday night.

Trained by Robert Gleeson for owner William Hyslop, the 4-5 favourite delivered another stunning performance to land the spoils. Ballyboy Deme was in control early, but the back straight pace of the winner took him to the front before the third corner. Keeping on well in front, the impressive winner pulled two and a half lengths clear of Ballyboy Deme, in 28.57. Two and a half lengths back to Bartlemy Jas in third.

GIDDY UP

In the opening semi-final, Giddyupgonzo returned to winning ways for trainer Pat Kiely and owners the Creamer-Dreamers-Syndicate.

Showing plenty of speed along the rails early on, the 2-1 winner was in total control as he powered around the opening corners in front. The outcome was never in any doubt, although Triangle Ricardo did show plenty of pace to get within two lengths of the winner, in 28.77. Witches Sydney ran on well for third, just a head behind the runner up.
