BRESBET EASTER CUP – OPENING ROUND DRAW

BRESBET EASTER CUP – OPENING ROUND DRAW

Ian Fortune

There will be incredible quality on show in the opening round of the Bresbet Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night.

The draw for the opening round was made this this afternoon and is bursting with top class performers, many of which can boast a classic success.

Derby and Oaks champion Susie Sapphire suffered defeat in her comeback run last weekend but will be expected to return to winning ways in Heat 5 where she looks a certain pace-setter. Beach Avenue and Ballybough Champ will certainly finish fast but Catchmeflying may emerge the biggest threat if he can produce one of his better starts.

Graham Holland’s team is headed by the likes of Jackslittlething, Romeo Magico, Knight Tornado and Part Blake. Part Blake and Knight Tornado clash in the opening heat where they will also have to contend with their kennel companion Swords Maestro, the in-form Auxerre and the talented duo of Russmur Pat and Muffin.

After his latest fastest of the year display over 525yds, Romeo Magic will relish the longer run to the turn in Heat 2. Should he make another fast start he is likely to come home in front of some classy rivals which include his kennelmate Sweep The Yard, talented female Benalmadena Roxy and the very pacey trio of Deadly Diego, Scarty Yank and Pierno.

Good Cody races over 550yds or the first time in the penultimate heat. He should really appreciate the longer run into the bend but will need to be on his toes with the likes of dual classic winner Ballymac Wild, the in-form Millridge Bobby and the strong running trio of Barefoot Supremo, Storys Pewee and Hello Hammond waiting in the wings.

The full draw can be seen below, while the full form should be available a little later in the afternoon in UPCOMING CARDS.
