Enniscorthy will play host to a tremendous card this evening with some hugely promising youngsters on show in the opening round of the Good Cody @ Stud Open Unraced, while there are plenty of talented performers in in action in the opening round of the Michael Donohoe Memorial A1 550.
It seems with each of the many unraced competitions at the Wexford venue, at least one or two potential stars emerge and that is again likely to be the case in the Good Cody @ Stud Open Unraced. There are five heats in all and each features at least one youngster with impressive qualifying form and a pedigree to match.
Picking winners in a competition of this nature is far from easy but we can certainly highlight those that have caught the eye in trials. Many of those on show in the opening heat fit the criteria.
SORREL LOOKS VERY USEFUL
Ballymac Sorrel posted 28.92 in qualifying and is a son of Ballymac Vic out of top stayer Ballymac Wisdom.
Snazzy Boss also moved well in trials, posting 18.86 for the sprint trip around Enniscorthy last time out. Swithins Jim also displayed ability in trial and must be respected.
Heat 2 is packed with potential improvers. None of the six have gone particularly fast but Rockmount Stella looks interesting. Little separates the six in Heat 3 on the clock and it will be a case of whichever improves most on trial form will come out on top.
CORNER BACK READY TO PERFORM
Left Corner Back is a very interesting runner in Heat 4.
A son of the lightly raced Here Comes Syd, he recorded 29.00 in his latest trial and can only improve given his youth. Tip Top Bundee is another worthy of a mention.
Tip Top Roxy is a sister to the aforementioned Tip Top Bundee and she could have a big say in the last of the five heats. She has moved reasonably well in each of her three trials at Enniscorthy and is well housed on the fence. Itsjokingiam is perhaps the biggest danger on form.
The opening round of the Michael Donohoe Memorial A1 550 features so many local stars and the resulting action should be hugely competitive. We’ll update you on any big runs in the morning.
