TOKYO FLIES IN CARROLL MEMORIAL

Ian Fortune

Rolo Tokyo was nothing short of brilliant as he set a strong standard in the second round of the Eamon and Paddy Carroll Memorial at Dundalk on Saturday evening.

Only seven days earlier, on his four-bend debut, he posted 28.73 but he went considerably faster this time, getting loose into the turn to win in a rapid 28.45. Trained by Damian Maginn for John Scofield, the son of Coolavanny Hoffa and Oi Oi Upenalty would run out a ready six and three quarter length winner over Cross Reference.

PROGRESSIVE TOO SHARP

Next fastest was Progression for Mary McGrath and Marie Gilbert.

The daughter of Malachi and Succession also improved on her opening round victory, posting a rapid 2.48 sectional as she made all to score by three and a half lengths from Blackstone Ten in 28.72.

BIG RUN FROM FAIRBANKS

The final heat saw Jim Robinson’s Moss Fairbanks race to a good success. Second behind Simons Cap to the second turn, he really motored down the back straight to assert.

Clear by the third turn, the son of Burgess Bucks and Moss Avenue would eventually win by six lengths from Composition in 28.76.

ADAM FINDS A WAY

Josie Burns’ Highview Adam was out with the washing in the early stages of Heat 2 but somehow worked his way into contention before striking on the run in.

The Paul Matthews trained son of Ballymac Cashout and Highview Moment flew down the back straight, finding space to run, to go second into the third turn.

Manalishi Jet was in front at this point but Highview Adam was too strong and stayed on best to win by a length and three parts from Jesting Aside in 28.99.
