The first semester of the new education programme in Greyhound Welfare & Husbandry, developed in partnership with Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) has reached full capacity and will formally commence next week, marking a significant milestone in the continued professionalisation of the sector.

Interest in the course has been exceptionally strong since its announcement, reflecting a clear appetite for structured, third-level education that supports best practice, innovation and long-term sustainability across the industry. 

The partnership with TUS represents an important step in strengthening education and training pathways, underpinned by the university’s expertise in applied learning and industry collaboration. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on contemporary standards, governance, welfare, and operational excellence, aligning with the evolving needs and expectations of the sector.

The first cohort will begin Semester One with a diverse group of participants drawn from across the country.
