Southwood Stan took Friday’s feature at Shelbourne Park, the final of the Go Greyhound Racing A2 525, with yet another professional display of front-running.
The Adam Dunford trained tracker went to traps the 5-4 favourite and it was soon evident he was going to justify his position in the market.
Flashing from traps, Jonathan O’Grady’s son of Droopys Sydney and Southwood Queen was in charge from the opening strides. Droopys Orator was his nearest rival throughout but Southwood Stan eased clear from the final turn to eventually score by four lengths in a superb 28.28 (track rated .20 fast).
BOYNE ROAD IN CHARGE THROUGHOUT
Boyne Road won the final of the Irish Retired Greyhound Trust A2 Dual Distance in similar fashion, getting loose on the long run to the turn.
Trained by Ollie Bray for June Maguire, the son of Burgess Bucks and Cannobio was sent to traps the 7-4 favourite and he would go on to dominate to beat the persistent Tip Top Roxy by a length in 32.53 (.20 fast).
