SENSATIONAL TRACK RECORD WINNING RUN FROM DASHING TORO

Barry Drake

A recent winner of the Lee Strand, Dashing Toro delivered a sensational 29.20 Track Record winning run in the second semi-final of the Callaway Pro Am @ Stud Race of Champions at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium on Friday.

High Trend and Songa In Grande set strong early fractions with the 7-2 winner right in the mix just behind the pacesetters. Storming to the front before the third corner, the August puppy displayed massive finishing speed when pulling right away to win in fantastic style. It was a performance of the very highest order, clocking an incredible 29.20 for the 550 yards and beating the staying-on Coolavanny Otto, by four lengths, winning for the Twice-A-Day-Everyday-Syndicate. Three and a half lengths behind the runner-up in third was High Trend.

Ower Cracker, trained by Pat Buckley for June and Tony Harvey, overcame crowding at the opening corner when landing the spoils, in 29.57. It got tight for racing room at the opening corner, but the June puppy took the bump and quickly raced to the front. Showing huge pace throughout, the impressive 9-4 winner delivered a fine winning effort to beat Extra Gain, by three and a half lengths. A neck back to Ballymac Run in third place.
