Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) has been undertaking a range of inspections under the Welfare of Greyhounds Act to also incorporate a cross-check with data recorded in its traceability system – RCÉTS - relating to racing greyhounds.  It is apparent that in a small number of cases that updates to the traceability system have not been provided in respect of individual racing greyhounds.

RCÉ wishes to advise that it is essential that the traceability system (RCÉTS) reflects real time information regarding the status of each greyhound.  In that regard RCÉ stresses the importance of ensuring that traceability records are up to date at all times.

The Board of RCÉ has approved as a direction under the Racing Regulations 2007 that racing greyhounds relating to an owner/trainer will NOT be listed for a trial or race event in cases where greyhounds  owned or trained by the owner/trainer have incomplete records on the RCÉTS system

This direction will be implemented with immediate effect.  RCÉ will be advising affected owners/trainers that greyhounds cannot be listed for a race event due to overall traceability records being incomplete.

The RCÉTS system can be accessed through the RCÉTS app (available for both iPhones and android phones) or from the website portal www.RCÉTS.ie.

Owners and trainers are also encouraged to avail of the RCÉTS roadshow and information sessions that are being scheduled at tracks in the coming weeks.
