NO STOPPING ORLA IN CORK FEATURE

Barry Drake

LEMON ORLA should take all the beating in tonight's €4,455 Ger Gubbins Construction Ltd A2 Stake Final at Curraheen Park.

Trained by Tom O'Neill for TJ Lyons and Noel Crowley, the selection comes here in superb form after clocking a career-best of 28.47 last week. Seven wins from just nice career outings, the powerful running tracker is chasing three straight wins and going on recent form, she should take the world of beating. A real powerhouse from halfway, if turning handy, it will take a big performance to turn the super talented daughter of Jacob Tashadelek over.

Of the others, Da Little Rocket is next best for the B Y K Syndicate. In the care of Daniel Cronin, the 18-time winner is no stranger to big performances and the early paced runner looks capable of slipping around in front. If winning the early lead, which looks likely, then another big run is on the cards.

ELITE CONTRACTING OPEN 575 STAKE

In the second semi-final of the Elite Contracting Open 575 Stake, Extra Gain can make all the running and make it two straight wins in the event. Trained by Gerry Holian for Susan Garrahy, the selection set the standard in the opening row, showing real pace to land the spoils, in 30.89. No stranger to big performances around the various tracks, the in-form tracker has some fantastic form in the book and another front-running winning effort looks very likely in this. Drawn well, along the inside of the track, he is expected to be in total control throughout.

In the opening semi-final, Dashing Toro is selected to return to winning ways. Owned by the Twice A Day Everyday Syndicate, the selection caught the eye in defeat in the opening round and if getting away to a better start in this, he should go close.  The Tralee 550-yard track record holder is a classy sort when on song and a big run is expected in this.
