MINSK SOLD AND JOINS HUNT AFTER PUPPY OAKS

In recent weeks Meenagh Minsk has not been shy about showing her greatest strength; brute early speed.

A flying trapper with tremendous pace into the corner, she has put up quite a series of runs around Shelbourne Park so it was no surprise to hear that she has attracted plenty of interest.

A daughter of Broadstrand Bono out of Derby runner-up Meenagh Miracle, she was purchased by Pat Huckle on behalf of the Nathan Hunt racing club. As the name would suggest, she is to be trained by Nathan and is set to become a star in the UK with her wonderful early dash certain to suit most of the tracks she will frequent.

Before then, she is to stay with Micky Corr, who confirmed the news of the sale yesterday. She won her opening round heat of the Suncroft Festival Puppy Oaks in typically professional manner on Saturday and will line-up in the semis next weekend.

She is a major player in the valuable competition but will be heading across the pond when her Puppy Oaks challenge ends. I’m sure her new and old connections will be hoping she can sign off her Irish career in style.

Incidentally, Micky Corr is hopeful he has one or two potential replacements coming along. Meenagh Miracle was a dream for him on the track and she has made a very bright start to her career as a brood. The next litter are by Good Gody and they are showing real promise as they start to school. Corr said they are showing plenty of promise.

She also happens to have a five month old litter on the ground so expect to hear plenty more of Meenagh Miracle and her progeny in the coming year or more.
