MAJOR RACE COVERAGE FOR 2026 ANNOUNCED BY SIS & GREYHOUND RACING IRELAND

GRI

GREYHOUND Racing Ireland and SIS have jointly announced planned big race coverage for 2026 which will include earlier rounds in major competitions such as the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial, Irish Oaks, Irish Laurels and Irish St Leger.

As ever, the flagship event is the BOYLE Sports Irish Derby which will once again have coverage of every race in every round with other Shelbourne Park events covered being the Gold Cup, Easter Cup, Open 600, Irish Oaks, Corn Cuchulainn, Champion Stakes, Puppy Derby and Winter Racing Festival.

The Irish St Leger at Limerick returns to a November slot having been staged in midsummer this year when Drombeg Banner sprang a 20/1 surprise for 18-year-old trainer Evan McAuliffe, in doing so giving a real boost to the sisracing.tv end-of-year schedule.

Tim Lucey, CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland, said, “The 2026 calendar represents a major step forward for Irish greyhound racing, with additional rounds of our flagship events and a more extensive schedule of racing coverage throughout the year.

"Building on our strong partnership with SIS, this expanded programme ensures greater visibility for the sport and enhanced opportunities for fans to engage with our biggest and best occasions.

"We are excited about the year ahead and the platform it provides to showcase Irish greyhound racing to audiences at home and around the world.”

Ryan Corrie, greyhound operations manager for SIS, said: "Thanks to our excellent long-standing relationship with GRI, and after record coverage of major Irish racing meetings this year, we are delighted to publish the schedule for 2026.

"As well as focusing on the year's big finals, it includes earlier rounds in the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial at Limerick, Irish Oaks at Shelbourne Park and Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park.

"The global popularity and familiarity of Irish greyhound racing continues to grow as confirmed by the record numbers engaging online via live streaming on the sisracing.tv website."

Additionally, sisracing.tv publishes a weekly 'Irish Focus' with leading commentator Ian Fortune every Wednesday which is a review of the major races in the previous seven days.

The first live major event of 2026 will be the Kerry Oaks from Tralee on 23rd January.
