LORD UNRACED DELIVERS AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

Once again, there were a number of fine displays in the Lord Unraced at Enniscorthy on Monday night with no fewer than four of the six heats won in under 29 seconds.

Glengar Kane went marginally faster than Seamount King with a 28.77 return but so many impressed, both in victory and defeat.

KANE SHOWS REAL PROMISE

Glengar Kane was one of two winners for Pat Buckley, coming home clear in Heat 5, although he did leave a little time on the track.

Telex Hoffa went up fast from five and led around the corner. In contrast, Glengar Kane missed the kick but flew into the bend.

Despite being forced to check his stride, Richard Colwell’s promising son of Grangeview Ten and Mystical Luna turned a close second. He was again forced to switch sides as he attempted to get to the leader into the third turn but it failed to halt his progress.

Driving his way into the lead before the third turn, Glengar Kane began to really turn the screw. Powering home, he would eventually see off Telex Hoffa by seven and a half lengths. Ballinabola Kiki was another length and a half away in third.

MATILDA COMPLETES BUCKLEY DOUBLE

Buckley completed his double with Deerjet Matilda in the final heat.

Owned by Nicholas De La Roche, the daughter of Deerjet Sydney and Nice Mystery broke in front and would go on to make every inch. Elite Blastoff motored into the turn to go second but could never gat back on terms, allowing Deerjet Matilda to run out a comfortable two length winner in 29.03. there was another length and a half to Karlow Flame in third.

KING TOO HOT TO HANDLE

Seamount King set the tone in the opening heat, showing fine early dash to dominate from the early yards for Eoin Mullins.

The son of King Sheeran and Bobsleigh Joy was under no pressure at any point and he proceeded to see off Ballymac Kandoo by five lengths in a quick 28.79. Jacktavern Beaut was best of the remainder in third, just three parts of a length further back.

BOLGER BOLTS CLEAR

Snazzy Bolger was one of the most emphatic winners of the round when showing huge early speed to quickly put the result beyond doubt.

Denis O’Donohoe’s son of Ballymac Bolger and O Mahoney posted a sizzling 3.09 sectional to go clear before holding off the staying on favourite Beaming Olivia by a length and a half in 28.84. The pair were six and a half lengths clear of Search Gor Glory in third.

DIVA OBLIGES

Knockduff Diva justified odds-on favouritism in Heat 4.

Second into the turn, Pat and Aodhan Doyle’s daughter of Pestana and Ballymac Orna slipped past the fast-starting Zenith Polly at this point before galloping on to a comfortable seven and a half length success over the same rival in 28.93. Ballinabola Iris was another half length away in third.

TRUMP ON TOP

Trump Line made virtually all for a narrow victory in Heat 3 for the GDG Syndicate.

The son of Bull Run Norris and Bull Run Petal forced his way to the front on the run to the corner and had enough in hand to contain Bombay Hawk by a half-length in 29.48. Rising Forrest took third, a length and a half further adrift.
