KNEGARE GOES BALLISTIC IN SHELBOURNE TRIAL

Callaway Knegare was clipped for Boylesports Derby glory in recent hours after posting a stunning 27.79 (rated .20 fast) in a trial at Shelbourne Park ahead of racing on Saturday night.

The Owen McKenna trained son of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Sweet had already show huge promise around Curraheen Park in the Denis Linehan Solicitors Open Unraced, clocking 28.14 on debut before winning his semi-final in 28.25.

He may have been out of luck in the decider but it’s clear he is immensely talented and his latest trial has seen Boylesports cut him to 20-1 for the Derby.

RYHOPE FASTEST OF THE REMAINDER

It wasn’t the only fast trial at Shelbourne Park over the weekend. Shelbourne open 600 winner Ryhope Beach returned from a spell on the sidelines to post a rapid 27.96 (+.20), while Barry Clancy and Tommy Kelly’s hugely progressive Innfield Destiny posted 28.07 (+.20).

Lee Strand winner and Race of Champions runner-up Dashing Toro also moved well, stopping the clock in 28.28, while Ballymac Sargie matched that time in a different trial.

Brendan O’Shea’s Crossfield Enzo also moved with real purpose on Saturday night, clocking a sizzling 18.47 for the 350yd trip in a solo trial. Unraced youngster Coolavanny Bruno also trialed well over two bends, recording a quick 18.65 for Noel Browne and Pat O’Connor.
