KANE TO LORD IT OVER RIVALS AT ENNISCORTHY

Ian Fortune

After brilliant displays in the two previous rounds, Glengar Kane is again expected to take some stopping in the quarter finals of the valuable Lord Unraced at Enniscorthy this evening.

For the first time in his career, he is drawn off the rail in three but he should still have to much for his rivals.

His kennel companion Deerjet Matilda is perhaps the main threat in four. She stepped up on her opening round effort to win in 29.03 last week and is clearly going the right way. From trap four, she will need to come away racing of she is to worry Glengar Kane, however.

DIVA JUST GETS THE NOD

The opening heat is competitive.

Knockduff Diva justified odds-on favouritism last week, winning from the front in 28.93.

With a similar start this evening, she again play a big part in proceedings but nothing will come easy with Ballinabola Kiki, Jacktavern Beaut, Any Means and Ballymac Kandoo all capable of going close to 29 seconds. Knockduff Diva is chosen to emerge on top with Ballinabola Kiki and Ballymac Kandoo nominated as the main dangers.

BOLGER TO BURN OFF RIVALS

Early speed can be the key to success for Snazzy Bolger in Heat 3.

Denis O’Donohoe’s son of Ballymac Bolger and O Mahoney posted a rapid 3.09 into the bend last week on his way to a comfortable success in 28.84.

A repeat of that form would suffice. Bombay Hawk was out of luck last week but can step up on form to emerge as a threat, while Rapido Ivy can also improve on previous form to make the frame.

KING TO RULE

Heat 3 is packed with promising youngsters including Seamount King, Elite Blastoff, Oh So Ivy and Beaming Olive.

All four have shown plenty of ability and seem likely to develop into very useful performers.

It was hard not to be impressed by Seamount King to date. Showing superb early speed, he won his opening round assignment in 28.88 before going faster the following week when stopping the clock in 28.79.

Should he start on terms from two, he can again assert into the opening bend. Elite Blastoff and Beaming Olive have both been running well without tasting success. They will continue to improve but Oh So Ivy is the main danger to Seamount King. She flew around in the opening round in 28.74 and has all the qualities to be a star in the future.

The action at Enniscorthy gets underway at 8pm with the last of the ten races set for 10.05pm. The entire card is made up of sweepstake action and a visit comes highly recommended.
