JETT TAKES OFF IN MEANEY MEMORIAL

Ian Fortune

Barrymore Jett took the headlines at Kilkenny on Friday night, showing plenty of pace and stamina to come from off the pace to win the Peter Meaney Memorial for Eamonn Dunne.

It didn’t look likely for much of the way as Bit View Bobby set the pace out front but as the packed tightened up around the last two bends, Barrymore Jett cut through the pack.

Still last into the third turn, Barrymore Jett moved fourth between the last two bends before readying himself for a final burst up the run in. Glory Lord and Blackstone Jan bumped in second and third at the final turn, leaving room for Barrymore Jett to get after Bit View Bobby. Finishing with real purpose, Barrymore Jett hit the front in the closing yards to win by an ever-increasing two lengths in 29.68. Blackstone Jan was another two and a half lengths adrift in third.

DESIRE DOMINATES IN CODY FINAL

Earlier on the card, Hearts Desire won the final of the Good Cody @ Stud A2 525 in more straightforward fashion.

Brian Ellard’s daughter of Jaytee Taylor and Darver Bridie broke smartly from three and eased her way onto the fence.

Once getting onto the rail, she charged into the turn to assert. Moving with fluency throughout, Hearts Desire would go on to see off Bogger Dusty by three and a half lengths in 29.06.

WARRIOR BOOKS DERBY TICKET

Kapuka Warrior booked his Derby ticket in the Boylesports Derby Trial Stake, justifying favouritism with a professional display.

Trained by Karol Ramsbottom for Matt Dunne, the son of Good News and Cruel Intentions displayed fine early speed to make every inch for a five length victory over Youandme Babe in a quick 28.96.
