Trained by John McCarthy Slick got the perfect inside draw for Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Cup final at The Meadows and so gave rise to prospects of a Queensland victory in the Melbourne feature over 525 metres.

Slick recovered from a moderate start to win from behind in 30.22 and he will be one of the leading fancies along with Anthony Azzopardi’s Raw Ability, Glenn Rounds’ Melbourne Cup runner-up Chasin ’Crackers and Andrea Dailly’s fastest qualifier Hecton Bale.
