Barry Drake
Trained by Kieran Lynch for owner Ger Gubbins, Hollyhill Pad is selected as nap material in tonight’s fourth race at Curraheen Park.
The April son of Burgess Bucks is still chasing a maiden success, however, he has run several fine races in his short racing career to date. Running well behind some classy types, this is his easiest task to date, and with a half-decent start, he should turn handy around the opening bends. In doing so, he should prove a class apart in the second half of the race.
Satin Daphne, for Olive Sheehan, on her return to racing action is next best. Off the track with a couple of months, if ready for the outing, she should give the nap selection most to think about.
ALL EYES ON
A couple of races later in the sixth, all eyes will be on the Johnny Linehan-trained Droopys Senna.
Owned by the Blarney-Ten-Syndicate, the May youngster looked like a huge prospect after winning on debut, clocking 28.55. It won't be straightforward steeping into A1 company for the first time, but she has bundles of all-round speed and she will take plenty of stopping. If producing a similar start to her debut victory, the exciting prospect will then take plenty of catching.
IN OTHER RACES
The Davy O’Brien Memorial Tri Distance got off to a flying start last week. In the second semi-final, Bright Ivy is the pick for trainer Johnny Linehan and owner Aaron Cambridge Murphy. That was a real eye-catching run in the opening round and with the step up to 550 yards sure to suit, the selection should go very close.
Girt Lad, for Brenda Peters and Joy McCotter, is also respected after his stunning 28.68 victory last week.
In the third semi final, Mucky Boreen is a youngster going places, and the James Kelleher-trained runner can record back-to-back winning performances. Under the ownership of Don and Gerard Buckley, the March puppy clocked 28.63 last week, making it two wins from just three starts. Another front-running winning performance is expected in this.
Rosshill News, for Joe and Brendan Long, was another impressive winner last week, posting 28.62 and the big finisher is a huge danger in this.
Lemon Bundee will like the extra yards in the opening semi and is taken to prove a good bet for owners Killian Cronin and Kevin Barry.
