EASTERN EXPRESS STARS AT GALWAY

Peter Farrell

In the mindset of all the action throughout the Country on Saturday night, it would be remiss not to mention a brilliant performance from Eastern Express at Galway Greyhound Stadium.

Owned by Joseph Ward, Eastern Express is far from an emerging young talent with thirteen starts under his belt coming into the contest, however, he again showed his consistency in recording a sixth career victory for connections.

6/4 at the off, Eastern Express (Sept 22’) broke superbly from three and in doing so, carried a two length lead around the opening bend from Ballyea Buck in second. A two length advantage soon doubled at the halfway mark and it was clear that the son of Ballymac Bolger was travelling out in front. Turning on the afterburners between the bottom two bends, Eastern Express flew up the Galway straight thereafter to cross the line a healthy, eight length winner over Ballyea Buck in second. The time was a fantastic 28.76 .10s and given the notoriously slow nature of the Galway circuit, that was a sensational performance from Joseph Ward’s greyhound.
