DROOPYS SUPPLY IMPRESSIVE ON LAURELS UNDERCARD

On the Laurels undercard, Droopys Supply impressed when winning the €2,000 to the winner Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels Consolation.

Trained by John Linehan for the Patrick-Janssens-Racing-Syndicate, the 8-1 shot wasn't the quickest into stride but he managed to turn third around the opening corners. Lemon Mick was taking them along up front, but the eye was always drawn to the strong running winner. In top gear from halfway, Droopys Supply powered home and he beat the early-paced Lemon Mick, by three lengths, in 28.85.

POWERFUL FINISH TO SCORE

In the opener, the €2,000 to the winner Kilane Beauty powered home to land the spoils for Patsy O'Sullivan and John O'Rourke. The 7-1 outsider was on top in the closing stages, getting the better of Ballyhooly Belle, by a length, in 31.35.

16-1 UPSET

Lads Bluebell caused a 16-1 upset when winning the Curraheen Park Bookmakers Mini Open 525. Trionas Tribe made a bold bid from the front, but the Mary Mackey-owned runner was always within touching distance. A big finisher, Lads Blueblee came home best of all to win. Half a length the margin, in 28.95.

IMPRESSIVE WINNING PERFORMANCE

The €2,000 Horgans Delicatessen Supplies Ltd Mitchelstown ON1 Final was won by Singalong Rex for trainer Pat Buckley and owner Gilbert Anderson.

Just making the corner in front, the 3-1 shot opened up on the back straight, quickly taking control of the contest. A nice prospect going forward, the December youngster went on to win, in 29.40. In trouble early on, Swords Don caught the eye in second, just a length and a half back.

 

IN OTHER RACES

Out the back early, Ballyholly Teejay came with a big late finish to take the Youghal Track Supporters Club 550. With top-class form over further, the 11-4 second favourite needed every bit of the trip to score. A superb display, posting 30.69 and a length clear of Millridge Levi in second.

Tribal Syd got the better of a couple of classy sorts when winning the Time Greyhound Nutrition Open 525. Evolution and Droopys Carbine were both looking for the inside line at the opening corner and the well-fancied came flying along the outside of the track. Once hitting the front, the 4-5 favourite then pulled out all the stops to beat the rallying Droopys Carbine, by a length and a half, in 29.10.

It was a great night all round for trainer Johnny Linehan, Footfield Violet took the R T & C High Trend @ Stud Open Bitch 525. The outcome was never in any doubt as the 4-5 favourite recorded back-to-back winning performances. A wide margin success, in 29.17.

Another to record back-to-back wins within the week was Aherla Rocco who impressed for Jerome Crowley. Tracking well around the opening corners, the 2-1 favourite then showed excellent pace and the powerful running tracker delivered a big performance to come home best of all and win easily. Four lengths clear at the winning line with Cheeky Dan best of the rest in second.

In the Clona Duke @ Stud 525, Valleys Angel came home in front for trainer Pat Kiely and the Thirteen Hurlers On The Ditch Syndicate. The 4-1 winner produced a flying start and once in front, she was always going to take the world of beating. A 29.24 winning run, four lengths clear of Rosebank Ben who was back in second.

In the closing race, the Broadstrand Bono @ Stud Open 550, it was Ballyhimikin Leo who ran a big race to win, showing real pace throughout, winning for Billy and John Dunne. The 4-1 shot took up the running soon after the opening corner and the winner ran on strongly to win, in 30.22. A length and a half back to Millridge Bryce in second place.
