BOYLE Sports Derby champion Cheap Sandwiches seems on target for a return to action at the Winter Racing Festival next month after posting a very useful 18.59 in a sprint trial at Shelbourne Park ahead of racing on Saturday night.
He posted the time off the back of a moderate 6.16 sectional, suggesting he was really moving up the home straight.
Incidentally, at the same trial session, a young unraced kennel companion to Cheap Sandwiches also impressed. Newinn Hoffa is a March ’24 whelp worth keeping an eye on. Weighing in at 86lb on Saturday, he flew around Shelbourne to post 28.28 in a solo trial. He is clearly very useful and is certainly one to keep an eye out for.
