Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) / Greyhound Racing Ireland has been reviewing its COVID-19 protocols and in line with the government’s approach to a gradual easing of restrictions, is putting the following arrangements in place at all tracks with immediate effect:

  • - Owners and trainers will be allowed access to the greyhound track on the basis of a one-person-one-dog arrangement.
  • - No access will be allowed to stadium buildings.
  • - Face coverings should continue to be worn and the 2M social distancing requirement should continue to be observed.
  • - Requests and instructions from staff and security personnel should be adhered to.
  • - Failure to comply with public health measures and requests from staff will result in being asked to leave the premises.

This approach is in line with the government’s easing of restrictions on outdoor activities.  It must be borne in mind that the risk from COVID-19 still remains high and in that regard all in attendance at greyhound tracks are asked to fully comply with necessary protocols.

RCÉ accepts that the past few months have been difficult for all involved in the greyhound industry but the arrangements in place have been necessary to reflect the severity associated with Level 5 status and to ensure that greyhound racing continues on a behind closed doors basis.

RCÉ will continue to review protocols in line with government directives and guidelines and will issue updates as necessary.
