BUNDLE COMPLETES BROWNSTOWN TANGO UNRACED ROMP

    Ian Fortune

Droopys Bundle completed her unbeaten passage through the Brownstown Tango & NTSC Open Bitch Unraced 525 at Newbridge on Friday night, providing further evidence that she could yet develop into one of the best in training with a superb display of track craft, determination and pure pace.

Despite a tough draw in five, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Droopys Sweet was sent to traps the even money favourite for Robert Gleeson and owner Matthew Derrick. As expected, her main market rival Callawayballymac went up fast from the inside box and led the field into the turn but Droopys Bundle was always close.

Driving across Pennys Wildpoppy on the bend, Droopys Bundle somehow found herself on the fence, a close second, into the back straight. Her momentum was halted briefly as the front two bumped slightly but she was soon back in top gear.

Showing fine pace, Droopys Bundle took over from Callawayballymac netween halfway and the third turn to put the result beyond doubt. Great credit must go to Callawayballymac, who rallied in second, but it was futile. Droopys Bundle was on her way to a wonderful success.

Maintaining a powerful gallop to the finish, the October ’23 whelp crossed the line with two lengths in hand in 28.41, the fastest time of the competition. Callawayballymac was a good second with a further four lengths to Ballinabola Pixi in third.

It was yet another tremendous renewal of the unraced competition and one suspects this is only the beginning for Droopys Bundle. She has a very willing attitude and tremendous pace, always a potent combination.

MIND WORTH WATCHING AFTER FINE DEBUT

Elsewhere on the Newbridge card there some fine displays.

Mind Your Mind looked a bright prospect for Shaun Conway in the opening round of the March Unraced, getting loose early to win by three lengths from Forza Bella in 28.78. A son of Ballymac Bolger and prolific brood, Shes Made It, he could be a nice dog to follow given his obvious early speed.

He was lengths quicker than the next fastest heat winner Rock Me Rosemary, who won in 29.10 as he completed a heat double for Eugene and Rosemary Price which had earlier been initiated by Penny Heart in 29.37.

    JACK AND ASH FINAL WINNERS

Joe Devlin was on the mark in the final of the Upcoming Events A4 550.

When Fiery Jack coming home fastest to win by a length in 30.60, while the final of the This Runs Deep A3 525 went to the aptly named Speedy Ash. Representing Gerry Melia, Megan Dee and Colette Ennis, the daughter of Ballymac Bolger made all to win in 28.98.
