Barry Drake
BALLYMAC SIUN can make the most of the drop in class and the rails pitch to win the closing race at Curraheen Park tonight.
The nap selection was third in the recent Tote Gold Cup, and this looks like a great winning opportunity. Last time out, she was also third, this time in the final of the Cork Oaks behind Bompay Special and Magical On Fire. This is a massive drop in class, and with a quick start expected, it really should be all one-way traffic up front. A ninth career success looks very likely, and the Ballymac runner can send punters home happy.
1XBET SUPERSPRINT
The semi-finals of the 1XBet Supersprint are the feature races on the 10-race card. Both contests look tricky, and a narrow vote goes to the Liam Dowling-trained Ballymac Stud. The selection caught the eye last week, running a big race behind Tiermana Dream. The sole seeded runner should enjoy plenty of racing room out wide, and if producing a half-decent start, he should go very close. Solo And Go, also for Liam Dowling, is another with massive claims. He was turned over last week, finishing second behind Microchip, who re opposes. If he can return to his 17.34 trial run, he would be hard to beat. Both Microchip, for Mary Clarke, and the in-form Tiermana Dream, for trainer Colm Fitzgerald, are others with claims; however, the last-named has a tough draw in trap five.
In the second semi-final, Sogna Ancora, for trainer Jack Kennelly, can make the most of a good draw in trap three. He was value for more than the clock suggests last week, and if putting his best forward, he can bounce out in front and make every yard of the running. The Michael O'Donovan-trained Stonepark Browne set the standard last week, clocking a superb 17.65. He's as quick as any in the event; however, trap five is a concern. He will need to produce one of his quickest starts, but he looks certain to be in the mix.
In the fourth, the Graham Holland-trained Titanic Brads rates the one to beat. That was an eye-catching performance last time out, running very well around Limerick. The selection should improve for that outing, and he's expected to take plenty of stopping in this. Shutinthedark disappointed last time out, but he's better judge on his debut performance, and he looks capable of going very well in this.
In the third, Jade One is the pick for David Harrington. Running extremely well in recent weeks, she looks capable of returning to winning ways in this. If producing one of her quickest starts, she should take control early and prove too strong up front.
The Harrington kennel also has claims in the second; Super Syd should be in the mix throughout. A very pacey sort, if on song, it will take something special to turn him over.
DYNAMIC FORCE @ STUD 525
Sparta Calli, a 28.49 winner last week, for trainer Philip Gough, should prove too strong in the opening semi-final of the Dynamic Force @ Stud 525. The August puppy is a youngster going places, and she displayed bundles of speed to win last week.
In the second semi-final, Danish Bubble can complete three straight wins for trainer Graham Holland. In superb form in recent weeks, another fine front-running winning display is on the cards. The John Kiely-trained Ardrath Ali is next best.
