A NIGHT TO REMEMBER FOR YOUNG TRAINER GEAROID O'BRIEN

Barry Drake

Cappoquin trainer Gearoid O'Brien enjoyed a wonderful night in Youghal on Wednesday night, as the talented young handler recorded a fantastic treble.

Dromana Harry was the first to score when coming from the clouds to win the sixth, an A3 contest. With winning form over further, the 4-6 favourite displayed plenty of staying power to run down Putellas. The last named held a huge lead to halfway, but the well-fancied winner had all the answers late on. A length the margin, in 29.67.

In the following race, an A4, Dromana Missy made it three wins from as many starts with a superb front-running winning performance. The 5-4 favourite drove a great opening corner to lead, soon in total control, the February youngster came home alone, in 29.65.

Dromana Junior made it a night to remember when landing the feature race, the closing race, an A1-A2 contest. Tracking beautifully around the opening corners, the well-backed 4-5 favorite was soon on the heels of the fast-starting Rockbay Buddy. Making the most of the drop in class and powering home, Dromana Junior went on to win, clocking 29.25 on the slow-running track, two lengths clear of Rockbay Buddy.

A great night all round for Gearoid O'Brien and his team.
