TREMENDOUS THURSDAY NIGHT FARE AT SHELBOURNE

As I pen these words, there is consistent rain falling in Dublin but hopefully it will clear ahead of a superb card at Shelbourne Park this evening.

While the action at the Ringsend venue is a very much an appetizer to the main course on Friday (Juvenile Derby) and Saturday (Derby final), it should whet the appetite.

The racing includes the final of the Nancy Tynan Memorial A4 575, five finals to the This Runs Deep A4 series, while there are a number of very promising youngster in action in the second round of the RCETS ON1/ON2 series. A couple that stand out in the A4 Series finals include Killinure King in the main final and Brave Biko in Final 2.

KING AND BIKO APPEAL

Killinure King has won his last two starts in style and seems to progressing with each run for Thomas Buggy and the Murphy Murray Syndicate.

Brave Biko has always been a wide runner but he does seem to be staying on much better and he has an ideal draw in his respective contest.    

SHAWNY HARD TO BEAT

After a brilliant 28.58 return on debut last week, Ballyard Shawy is the one to beat in Heat 2 of the RCETS On1/ON2 series.

The Michael O’Donovan trained son of Droopy Sydney has massive early speed and can make every yard to contain the promising duo of Sporting Montana and Kilara Dazzler.

Undulation caught the eye in defeat last week and Brendan Matthews’ well bred star can come out on top in the opening heat at the expense of Droopy Selector.

Heat 3 features some very nice types although Romeo Turbo is chosen to come home in front of the eye-catching Undisputed. Here, Ballymac Jonhjo and Tommys Emma are also expected to step up on their opening round efforts.

The final heat is perhaps the most open. Graigues Ozzy is a tentative selection but Coolavanny Fort and Romeo Salvo and Tommys Olympic are all respected.

A WIDE OPEN DECIDER

The final of the Nancy Tynan Memorial is the most competitive race on the card, however.

Realistic claims can be made for most of the field and the run to the turn will be of real significance. Should any of the quartet of Milldean Oscar, Towerlilly Cain, Up At Sunrise or Slimline Flash get loose, they will be hard to reel in. That said, the remaining duo of Kiltippin Paudge and Boherash Michael also displayed plenty of dash in recent outings and can’t be dismissed. If really is a conundrum but the nod just goes to Tommy Caffrey’s Slimline Flash after a fine trap to line semi-final success.
