OSCAR WINS TYNAN MEMORIAL AT A BUSY SHELBOURNE

There was just six finals up for decision at Shelbourne Park on Thursday evening as the This Runs Deep A4 Series came to a conclusion, while the final of the Nancy Tynan Memorial produced a tremendous winner in the form of Milldean Oscar.

The €2,000 Nancy Tynan Memorial looked an incredibly open affair but an inside draw made the difference for Milldean Oscar as he shot to the front before the corner. The Frank Courtney trained son of Milldean Panther and Milldean Gem was never headed thereafter.

Boherash Michael emerged a serious threat down the back straight but could never get back on terms. In the end, Milldean Oscar had a length to spare over his rival in 31.53.

MASTERLINK GOES FASTEST IN THE SERIES FINALS

The main final of the This Runs Deep A4 Series went to Masterlink as he ran out a professional trap to line victor to claim the €2,000 winner’s purse.

Owned by Ciaran Magill and Richard Russell, the son of Confident Rankin and Boozed Bubble made every inch to contain Killinure King by three lengths in 28.76.

Ollie Bray sent out Sunshine Jewel to win Final 2 of the A4 Series (worth €1,500 to the winner). The daughter of Laughil Blake and No Recollection led throughout to beat Brave Biko by four lengths in 28.88.

Final 3 saw Diegos Shay show great back straight pace to take over before going on to see off Elicit Speed by a length and a half. Diegos Shay, trained by John Byrne for the Premier Spirit Syndicate, stopped the clock in 29.30.

Chris Richards’ Reel Copper (Quietly/ Scruffs Copper) took Final 4 of the series when holding the late challenge of Swift Abandon by a half length in 29.02.    

The first of the five finals (Final 5) saw Might Be Sharp lead throughout for Joe Murphy. The daughter of Droopys Sydney emerged a comfortable three length scorer in 29.36.

POINTER FASTEST OF A PROMISING BUNCH IN RCETS

There were also some superb displays in the RCETS ON1/ON2 Series with honour of gong fastest going to Droopys Pointer in the second heat.

The Johnny Linehan trained youngster flew home to deny long-time leader and fastest opening round scorer Ballyard Shawy.

Droopys Pointer, a son of Malachi and Droopys Ant, really did catch the eye from the second turn as he led late to score by a length in 28.53. There will little between the remaining heat winners on the clock with Droopy Selector staying on ell to win the opening heat in 28.82, Undisputed impressing in Heat 3 as he made all in 28.71, while Coolavanny Fort also led for much of the way to win the final heat in 28.72.
