Almost ten years since they last raced at Oxford, the stadium re-opened to real fanfare on Friday evening and by all accounts it was a tremendous success.
Under the stewardship of Kevin Boothby, the venue seems set to become one of the jewels in the crown on the UK scene.
A big crowd journeyed to the stadium for the reopening and the racing was of a high quality throughout. It was notable how smooth everything went and the dimensions of a track will ensure that it becomes a popular venue for open race trainers.
The racing surface looked flawless while most dogs were fluent around the corners, while the long straights were a joy. We wish everyone involved in the track the very best in the future. If the opening night is anything to go by, there will be many famous nights to come at the venue.
