CRONIN THE NEW CHAIRMAN OF TRAINER’S ASSOCIATION

CRONIN THE NEW CHAIRMAN OF TRAINER’S ASSOCIATION

Ian Fortune

A recent meeting of the Greyhound Trainers Association at the Horse and Jockey saw many important issues up for discussion while it was also decided to set up a new committee.

The new committee features some very well-known names with Peter Cronin installed as the new chairman.

Peter was keen to express his thanks the outgoing committee and the former chairman, Paul Hennessy, for their tireless work.

Hennessy will actually remain as a member of the committee where he will be joined by Graham Holland, Johnny Linehan and Pat Buckley. Pat Guilfoyle has been installed as the new secretary.

In a brief statement, Peter suggested he would encourage everyone in the training fraternity to join the association and have a voice going forward.

He also stressed, as chairman, that he and the committee plan to work proactively with all parties within the Irish greyhound racing industry going forward.

Knowing Peter and those involved on the committee, it seems certain they will put the best interest of the sport and those involved to the fore. We wish them luck going forward and I urge those with a dog or dogs in training to join their ranks.
