CONSISTENT WARRIOR FASTEST TO THIRD TURN

Born Warrior has been nothing if not consistent through the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby.
You may notice from the table below that he is the only greyhound to lead at the third turn in each and every round.
With a personal best 16.97 in the quarter finals and a slowest 17.15 in the opening round, there is little between his five clocks to the third turn, further highlighting his consistency. On Saturday night, he set the standard to that point, containing Coolavanny Hoffa to post 17.01.
The second semi final saw Ballymac Finn overcome a slightly tardy start to record 17.18. He led to the third turn on three occasions through the Derby, posting his best time in the second round when recording 17.01.
Incidentally, only four of the Derby finalists have led to the third bend on at least one occasion and it may come as a surprise to a few that Crafty Kokoro is amongst them. The powerhouse led just before the third turn in the opening round, posting a rather moderate 17.55 although it’s fair to suggest her clocks from the third bend to the winning line are far faster than any of those remaining.
Callaway Pro Am, who is set to start Derby favourite, led on four separate occasions to the third turn with a best clock of 17.01. How Owen McKenna would love for his brilliant tracker to match that effort on Saturday.
The two finalists that have yet to lead at the third turn in any of the five previous rounds are Maries Wedding and Droopys Nice One.
