ANOTHER DEADLY DISPLAY FROM SHOWTIME AT KILKENNY

The Karol Ramsbottom trained Deadly Showtime justified odds-on favouritism to again set the pace in the second round of the JAG Building Services & KGOBA A1 Derby at Kilkenny.
After a stunning 28.66 a week earlier, the hugely talented son of Droopys Sydney and Ruby Valley didn’t go quite as fast but was every bit as impressive as he dictated throughout to score by a wide margin in 28.81. Owned by the Blue Light Syndicate, the April ’20 whelp emerged a facile seven length scorer over The Other Ollie.
TREMENS AND HARRY ALSO GO FAST
Delirium Tremens and Blastoff Harry weren’t too far behind on the clock with both posting 28.89 in their respective heats.
Delirium Tremens, representing Murt Leahy and the Backtomackeys Syndicate, won Heat 3 in similar style to Deadly Showtime, showing superb early dash to make all.
The son of Ballymac Eske and Knockdrinna Miss eased away from the chasers to eventually see off Da Hub by four and a half lengths.
Blastoff Harry took the final heat, although he had to work a little harder than Deadly Showtime and Delirium Tremens. Trained by Paul Hennessy for Paul Hynes, the son of Tarsna Havana and Blastoff Khalesi was prominent early but came out of the turn in third behind Rowlers Road and Jirano Jetstream.
He was soon second, however, and motored into the third turn to take over from Rowlers Road. Once doing so, the powerful galloper shot away from the pack to see off Rowlers Road by three and a half lengths in 28.89.
MORE QUICK STEPS FROM BEAUTY
The opening heat saw Beautyquickstep continue her superb run of form.
Only fourth into the back straight, the David Flanagan trained bitch was left second between the last two bends as Yankee Doodle and Warzone Milo clashed.
By this point Beautyquickstep, owned by Margaret and Birdy Barrett, was in top stride and th daughter of Droopys Sydney and Lamestep ran on well to lead on the line to deny the long-time leader Melling Road by a neck in 29.26.
NICE PROSPECTS ON SHOW IN MEANEY MEMORIAL
The opening round of the Peter Meaney Memorial ON2 provided some tremendous action on the first half of the Kilkenny card and honour of gong quickest went to the Murt Leahy trained Droopys Shaun as he came home clear in 29.00. Martin Costigan’s son of Loughteen Blanco came home almost eight lengths clear.
There was a Romeo doble for Graham Holland and David Firmager with brothers Romeo Kodi and Romeo Atomic both making all to win their respective assignments. Kodi was first up. The son of Romeo Recruit and Fabulous Mila was always in charge as he ran out a ready eight and a half length scorer in 29.14, while Atomic held on by a short head in Heat 4. He too made all but had to really dig in to contain Laughil King in 29.05.
Kilara Jacko (Ballymac Best/ Kilara Jessie) looked a nice type for Philip O’Keeffe and Michael Donnelly in the opening heat, overcoming some early crowding before running on strongly to beat The Other Rudolf by two and a half lengths in 29.13.
The final heat saw the Owen McKenna trained Run Faster recover from a slow start to lead on the corner. The son of Droopys Cain and Sarista, who is owned by Martin and Eve Crowe, was never under pressure once assuming control and he went on to score by four lengths in 29.12.
