Tom Ahern proudly returned to Milford Care Centre this week to handover an impressive €18,465.80 to the charity, the proceeds of the Night at the Dogs Fundraiser he held in Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday 7th October.
Tom made the presentation to Anne Marie Hayes, Fundraising Manager, who was delighted to receive such a significant contribution to their fundraising targets for this year.
Speaking after making the presentation Tom was keen to thank everyone who supported the event in some way.
“I’d just like to thank everyone who contributed to this night in so many various ways, from those who sold tickets, purchased tickets, contributed raffle prizes, people who sponsored races – thank you very much.
For everyone that attended on the night, including special guests Barry Nash, Kyle Hayes and Ian Fortune (Greyhound Journalist) and everyone else who contributed and made the night so great, thank you so much.
It’s all you that have contributed this so, it’s a wonderful cause and I’m glad to have done it. Thank you.”
The driving force behind his fundraising efforts was a desire to give back to the charity which have been a tremendous support to Tom’s family this year, with his late mother receiving hospice care prior to her passing in May.
Tom is a Welfare Officer for Greyhound Racing Ireland and for him Limerick Greyhound Stadium was a natural first stop for his fundraising efforts saying that he knew that the greyhound community would get behind the efforts and support it as best they could.
