SUPER TED CAN FLY AT SHELBOURNE

SUPER TED CAN FLY AT SHELBOURNE

Ian Fortune

Those journeying to Shelbourne Park this evening can expect to see some wonderful performances especially in the semi-finals of the Yvonne Barry track Bookmaker 600.

Pat Buckley certainly has a strong hand in the stake with the Cappawhite based handler responsible for the likely favourite in both semis.

TEDDY SET TO SHINE

Bens Teddy is seen as the one to beat in the second heat and with reason.

The Pat Buckley trained Derby third was impressive in his opening round assignment and looks certain to come on for that outing, the first since the Derby final.

He will need to be close to his best as the rapidly progressive Jetstream Breeze can certainly give him plenty to think about, while Optic Chico is also incredibly fast when things go his way. Jetstream Breeze led early in a 32.27 success last week and will bid to make every yard again.

From trap three, he certainly looks the most likely pace-setter, although Capuletto is also likely to go up strongly from trap six. Bens Teddy might be too close, however. If clearing Barefoot Supremo into the turn, which seems likely, Bens Teddy can turn on the heels of the leaders before making his power and pace count from halfway. Jetstream Breeze is nominated as the main danger.

ELVIS TO LEAVE RIVALS FEELING FLUSH

The step up to 600yds saw the exciting Glengar Elvis bring his level of performance to a new level in the opening round.

The impeccably well bred son of Brett Lee and Droopys Smasher was brilliant as he dominated throughout to post a fastest of the round 32.22.

He will need to repeat that level of performance in the second heat with Droopys Nice One waiting in the wings. The latter continues to run at the highest level and emerged a good winner last week. She will need to be at her sharpest in the opening yards if she is to match Glengar Elvis into the turn but, if doing so, would be a serious rival. Lotto Six One is another with fine early speed on the outside of the track but he too needs a flying start to threaten.
