GOOD SAHARA LANDS BURGESS UNRACED FEATURE

The final of the €2,100 to the winner Burgess Bucks @ Stud Unraced Bitch stake served as the highlight on Sunday night’s Clonmel card and it went the way of the odds-on favourite as Good Sahara maintained her unbeaten career start.

Running for Maria Kennedy, Good Sahara (Good Cody – Jaytee Sahara) was installed as the 4/5 to make it three wins on the spin after a dominant performance in the semi final seven days’ prior. Running from trap two, the March 22’ whelp broke well from blue was led early doors by Sinbolina, who had bulleted from trap one. Turning with a clear advantage, Sinbolina proved a tough nut to crack down the back straight, however, Good Sahara and indeed Quick News were making fine progress approaching the penultimate turn. Going for a daring run up the inside, Good Sahara took charge at this point and it proved decisive as she outstayed her rivals to cross the line with three and a half lengths to spare. Quick News running on well to take second, the time was 28.84 .10s.

SILKY SMOOTH

Prior to the feature, there were two other sweepstake finals up for grabs and the first of those was the B & T Sports A5/A6 525, worth €1,100 to the winner.

That’s It Caoimhe went off as the 6/4 favourite in this contest, however, it was Borna Silk (Ballymac Bolger – Borna Bula) who was to prove too strong as Kat Dwan’s runner took charge off the second turn. A 5/2 market chance, the March 21’ was in search of a second career victory and she broke well from trap two to follow Circus Storm into the opening corner. Crucially holding her inside line, Borna Silk soon asserted entering the back straight and it was a straightforward task thereafter as she held Circus Storm by two lengths crossing the line. The time was 29.15 .10s.

HONEY BUNNY

The Roseville Kennels A2 Tri-Distance was also up for grabs on the card and the €900 stake was landed in brilliant fashion by the 4/5 favourite, Honey Bunny.

Owned by David and Michael Power, Honey Bunny was the understandable odds-on favourite after an off-the-pace masterclass one week prior and the extra yardage would only play to her strengths in this 550 contest. Running from a plumb draw in one, the daughter of Droopys Sydney broke well from red and she led her rivals a merry dance into the opening corner. From here, it was all one-way traffic for Honey Bunny as she set a strong gallop throughout to cross the line three and a half lengths clear of We Got This in second. The time was 30.07 .10s.
